  • 1 tablespoon baking powder Leavening agent for the fritters.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar Sweetener for the batter.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Adds warmth and spice.

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk Liquid to combine the batter.
  • 2 large eggs Binding agent for the batter.

Filling

  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples Use firmer apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.

For Frying

  • Vegetable oil For frying the bites.
  • Powdered sugar For dusting before serving.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs and then stir in the milk. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients, combining gently until just mixed.
  • Fold in the diced apples into the batter until they are evenly distributed throughout.

Cooking

  • In a large pot or deep fryer, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil. Fry until they turn golden brown, usually 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Remove the fritters from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  • Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Ensure your oil is hot enough to prevent the fritters from soaking up too much oil. For a healthier option, consider baking the fritters instead of frying them.
