Ingredients

Bread Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  • In another bowl, mix the melted butter, milk, and eggs until well combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Fold in the diced apples and mix gently to ensure they are evenly distributed.
  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the brown sugar over it. Add the remaining batter on top and finish with the rest of the brown sugar.

Baking and Cooling

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • For a simple glaze, mix powdered sugar with a little milk and drizzle it over the bread once cooled.

Notes

Choose firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp for the best flavor. Keep leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to a week. You can also freeze slices for later enjoyment.
