This bang bang shrimp taco recipe is crispy, creamy, sweet, and spicy all in one bite. Made with golden fried shrimp and a rich homemade bang bang sauce, these tacos are quick, flavorful, and perfect for an easy taco night.

Ingredients
  

  • * 1 lb raw shrimp peeled and deveined, tails removed
  • * 8 small tortillas corn or flour
  • * 2 cups shredded cabbage or coleslaw mix
  • * ½ cup sliced green onions
  • * 1 cup buttermilk
  • * 1 cup cornstarch or flour
  • * 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • * 1 teaspoon paprika
  • * ½ teaspoon salt
  • * ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • * ½ cup mayonnaise
  • * 2–3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • * 1 tablespoon sriracha adjust to taste
  • * 1 teaspoon honey optional
  • * 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • * Vegetable oil for frying
  • * Optional: cilantro lime wedges

Instructions
 

  • Pat shrimp dry with paper towels.
  • In one bowl, add buttermilk.
  • In another bowl, mix cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, and lime juice.
  • Dip shrimp into buttermilk, then coat in the seasoned mixture.
  • Heat oil to 350°F in a deep pan.
  • Fry shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.
  • Remove and place on paper towels.
  • Toss shrimp gently in the bang bang sauce.
  • Warm tortillas and assemble with cabbage, shrimp, and green onions.
  • Add cilantro and a squeeze of lime, then serve immediately.

Notes

  • Dry shrimp well to ensure crispiness.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan when frying.
  • Adjust spice level by adding more or less sriracha.
  • For a lighter version, air fry instead of deep frying.
