Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Fresh fish (snapper, tilapia, or halibut) Choose sushi-grade for safety.
  • 1 cup Fresh lime juice Can blend with lemon and orange for a twist.
  • 1 small Red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup Cilantro, chopped
  • 1 pcs Chili pepper, finely chopped Adjust the amount to taste.
  • 1 tsp Salt Essential for seasoning.

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 pcs Avocado Can be sliced as a garnish.
  • 1/2 cup Mango, diced Adds depth and sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup Cucumber, diced Optional for texture.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Choose high-quality, fresh fish from a reputable source. Ensure it’s sushi-grade.
  • Dice the fish into small, even pieces, aiming for ½-inch cubes.
  • In a glass bowl, combine the diced fish with lime juice, ensuring it is completely submerged. Cover and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
  • After marination, drain excess citrus juice, leaving some to keep it moist. Mix in red onion, cilantro, and chili pepper, and season with salt to taste.
  • Let the mixture rest for an additional 10-15 minutes for the flavors to meld.
  • Plate the ceviche with a sprinkle of extra cilantro and lime wedges on the side. Serve immediately.

Notes

Avoid over-marinating the fish, opt for fresh ingredients, and strive for balance among flavors. Fresh ceviche is best enjoyed the same day.
