  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs Ensure room temperature
  • 1 cup whole milk Ensure room temperature
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Additional

  • 1 cup boiling water This helps achieve moisture

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 13x18-inch sheet pan thoroughly.

Mixing

  • In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Carefully mix the boiling water into the batter.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cooling and Frosting

  • Let your cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Prepare your favorite chocolate frosting while waiting.
