Shrimp Preparation

  • 1 pound Fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined Use high-quality, local shrimp if possible.

Base Ingredients

  • 2 cups Tomato juice or Clamato
  • 1/4 cup Fresh lime juice Freshly squeezed for best flavor.
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup
  • 1 cup Chopped onion
  • 1 cup Diced cucumber
  • 1 cup Diced tomato
  • 1/4 cup Fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 piece Jalapeño, optional For heat, adjust to taste.
  • 1 piece Avocado, sliced For serving.

Preparation

  • Boil shrimp in a pot of salted water until they turn pink, about 2–3 minutes. Drain and cool them under running cold water to stop cooking.
  • In a large bowl, combine tomato juice or Clamato with lime juice, ketchup, and seasonings (salt, pepper, and chopped jalapeño if you like heat).
  • Gently fold in the chopped onion, diced cucumber, diced tomato, and cilantro until everything is well combined.
  • Carefully add the cooled shrimp into the mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated with the tangy sauce.
  • Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes so the flavors meld together beautifully.
  • Serve in chilled bowls, topping with avocado slices for an added indulgence.

Notes

Consider garnishing with lime wedges or a sprinkle of chili powder for an eye-catching presentation. Adjust jalapeño according to your spice preference.
