Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 can tuna, drained Opt for high-quality tuna packed in water or olive oil.
  • 1 cup cottage cheese For a creamier texture, mix in some Greek yogurt.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Fresh lemon juice works best for flavor.
  • 1/4 cup diced celery Adds crunch to the salad.
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion Red onion adds flavor and color.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Start with small amounts and adjust as needed.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Drain the tuna: Open the can of tuna, drain the excess liquid, and place it in a mixing bowl. Use a fork to flake it apart slightly.
  • Mix in the cottage cheese: Add the cottage cheese to the tuna, stirring well to combine them into a creamy mixture.
  • Add fresh ingredients: Incorporate the diced celery and red onion for extra crunch and flavor.
  • Season to taste: Drizzle the lemon juice over the mixture, add salt and pepper according to your taste, and stir until all ingredients are well combined.
  • Chill (optional): For a refreshing dish, refrigerate the salad for 30 minutes before serving.
  • Serve: Enjoy it on its own, as a sandwich filling, or atop a bed of greens.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Not recommended for freezing due to texture changes. Avoid using too much liquid when draining the tuna.
