  • Sprinkles, edible glitter, and candy eyes Get creative with decorations.

Instructions

Making the Cake Pops

  • Bake the Cake: Prepare the cake mix according to the instructions and bake it in a 9x13 inch pan. Let it cool completely after baking.
  • Crumble the Cake: Once cooled, crumble the cake into a large mixing bowl to create fine crumbs.
  • Mix in Frosting: Add 1/2 cup of frosting to the crumbled cake and mix until fully combined, ensuring the mixture holds together when formed into a ball.
  • Form Cake Balls: Roll about a tablespoon of the mixture into a ball and place on a lined baking sheet. Aim for 20-25 cake pops.
  • Chill the Balls: Refrigerate the cake balls for about 30 minutes to harden them.
  • Prepare for Dipping: Melt your candy melts according to the package instructions.
  • Insert Sticks: Dip each lollipop stick into the melted candy for about an inch, then gently insert it into the center of a cake ball.
  • Dip and Decorate: Dip each cake pop into the melted candy to fully coat, allowing excess to drip off before placing the pops upright to dry, adding decorations while still wet.
  • Let Them Set: Allow the cake pops to set at room temperature or in the refrigerator.
  • Enjoy: Once set, transfer to a decorative platter or gift in clear treat bags.

Notes

Get creative with flavors and toppings, use Halloween-themed decorations, and avoid over-mixing the frosting with cake crumbs. Chill the cake balls to prevent falling apart when dipping.
