  • Start by flattening each slice of bread with a rolling pin.
  • Spread your chosen filling onto the flattened bread slices, leaving a little space around the edges.

Cooking

  • In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Dip each rolled bread piece into the egg mixture, ensuring they're well-coated but not soaked.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a bit of butter.
  • Place the rollups seam-side down and fry until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes each.

Serving

  • Remove them from the skillet, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with syrup, and serve warm.

Notes

Using fresh bread ensures good texture. Don't overstuff the rollups and reheat them in a skillet for the best results.
