Preparation

  • Wash and chop the green apples, leaving the skin on.

Cooking

  • In a medium saucepan, combine chopped apples, sugar, water, and lemon juice.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, then lower the heat and let it simmer for about 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the apples are soft and the syrup thickens, remove the saucepan from heat.

Straining

  • Let the mixture cool for a few minutes, then strain through a fine mesh sieve into a clean jar, pressing the apples gently.

Storage

  • Allow the syrup to cool completely before sealing it in an airtight container.
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

Notes

For best flavor, use Granny Smith apples. Consider infusing flavors like cinnamon or ginger.
