Ingredients

  • Apple Filling
  • 4 medium apples peeled (optional), cored, and diced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey
  • Crumble Topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup almond flour or whole wheat flour
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil or butter melted
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or line with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, toss diced apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and maple syrup. Spread evenly in the baking dish.
  • In another bowl, mix rolled oats, almond flour, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Stir in melted coconut oil (or butter) and maple syrup until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.
  • Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, until apples are tender and topping is lightly golden.
  • Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Apples provide most of the sweetness—avoid over-sweetening.
  • A small amount of fat is essential for a crisp crumble topping.
  • Letting the crumble rest helps thicken the juices.
  • Delicious warm or cold straight from the fridge.
