Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened Make sure it's softened for best texture.
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix-ins

  • 1/2 cup mixed nuts (chopped) Customize based on preference.
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup dried fruits (e.g., raisins, cranberries) Choose your favorite dried fruits.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the chopped nuts, chocolate chips, and dried fruits.
  • Drop tablespoon-sized scoops of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for about 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden.
  • Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Experiment with flavors by adding coconut flakes or spices. Store in an airtight container for up to a week. Freeze cookie dough for up to three months.
