Ingredients

  • Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound pizza dough store-bought or homemade, room temperature
  • cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ –¾ cup pizza sauce
  • Flavor Base
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder optional
  • Pantry Staples & Toppings
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: pepperoni olives, bell peppers, mushrooms, cooked sausage, basil

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Divide pizza dough into small portions (about golf-ball size). Let rest for 5 minutes.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll each piece into a small circle about ¼-inch thick.
  • Use a knife or heart-shaped cutter to shape each piece into a heart.
  • Transfer dough hearts to baking sheet and lightly brush with olive oil.
  • Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over each heart, leaving a small border.
  • Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and add desired toppings.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly and edges are golden.
  • Remove from oven and rest for 2–3 minutes. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning or fresh basil before serving.

Notes

  • Don’t overload with sauce or toppings—less is better for crisp crust.
  • Let dough come to room temperature to prevent shrinking.
  • For extra crispiness, bake on the lower oven rack for the last 1–2 minutes.
