Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter For a rich base.
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar Sweetness and moisture.
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar Adds depth and chewiness.
  • 2 Eggs Binds the mixture and adds richness.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract Enhances the flavor.
  • 2 tbsp Red Food Coloring Gives the brownies their signature hue.
  • 1.5 cups All-Purpose Flour The main structure.
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa Powder Infuses chocolate flavor.
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder For leavening.
  • 1/2 tsp Salt For balance.
  • 1/2 cup Buttermilk Adds moisture and a slight tang.
  • 1/2 cup White Chocolate Chips (optional) For extra sweetness and a creamy texture.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until combined.
  • Allow the butter-sugar mixture to cool slightly, then whisk in the eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla extract and red food coloring until well mixed.
  • In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Stir in the buttermilk until fully incorporated. If using white chocolate chips, gently fold them in now.

Baking

  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then transfer them onto a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.

Notes

Don’t overmix the batter to prevent tough brownies. Using gel food coloring provides a more vibrant color. Adjust sweetness as desired by reducing sugar.
