Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Pour the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil into the flour mixture and mix until a sticky dough forms.
  • On a floured surface, gently knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

Assembly & Baking

  • While the dough is rising, chop the assorted vegetables and prepare any vegan cheese.
  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down, and transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Shape it into a rectangular or circular form.
  • Sprinkle fresh herbs over the dough surface, add your assorted toppings, and drizzle with more olive oil.
  • Let it rest for another 20-30 minutes before baking.
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let it cool slightly, slice it up, and serve warm.

Notes

Experiment with different flours and toppings. Ensure to allow adequate rising time for the best texture. Use olive oil for flavor and moisture.
