Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups ripe watermelon, diced and seeded Select a ripe, sweet watermelon for best flavor.
  • 2 cups cold water Adjust to preference for desired consistency.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice About 1 lime.
  • 1-2 tablespoons sugar or honey Adjust to taste; this is optional.
  • to taste fresh mint leaves for garnish Optional for added flavor and presentation.

Preparation

  • Cut the watermelon into small cubes, removing any seeds.
  • In a blender, combine the diced watermelon, cold water, lime juice, and sugar (if using). Blend until smooth (about 30 seconds).
  • For a smoother texture, pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a pitcher. This step is optional.
  • Refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and chill.
  • Pour the Agua Fresca over ice in tall glasses and garnish with fresh mint leaves.

Notes

Keep Watermelon Agua Fresca covered in the fridge for up to three days. Stir before serving as ingredients may separate. Feel free to experiment with sweetness and add additional flavors.
